OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED

Working closely with the Soprod manufacture and the official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC), we’re proud to announce that every Serica watch out of production is now a certified chronometer.

The staple of Swiss mechanical precision for over 50 years..

PERPETUALLY CHALLENGED

Dust, vibrations, shocks, accelerations, water, and magnetic fields are as many enemies of the mechanical watch, yet challenges they meet daily.

A good reason to control everything we can, and team up with the people who commit to precision.

STRIVING FOR PERFECTION

Making our watches always more reliable and enduring is achieved by giving them more time and attention, testing every movement in every watch.

We are now proud to announce that every Serica watch houses a Soprod caliber that has previously been certified by the official Swiss chronometer testing institute.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can I check myself that my watch is within the COSC tolerances ?

The tests to certify a chronometer movement are carried out under specific conditions defined by the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute, detailed here : https://www.cosc.swiss/notre-certification/methodes-de-mesure

Unless you have professional equipment at least equivalent to that of COSC and can exactly replicate these static tests performed in the laboratory on a non-cased movement, it is not possible to repeat the controls validated by this certified body.

What are Serica’s commitments regarding chronometer certification ?

Chronometer certification ensures that the movement in your watch meets the standards of a norm determined by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

SERICA conducts additional tests once the watch is assembled (before sale or in after-sales service). A rate accuracy average in 6 positions on a calibrated testing device is performed for each watch to ensure that the movement of your watch is always statically within the tolerances of [-4:+6] seconds/day.

What factors/elements can cause measurement discrepancies ?

Vibrations, strong magnetic fields, shocks (direct or indirect), and sudden temperature changes are all factors that can disrupt the regularity of the movement in your watch.

It is important to note that the winding level of the mainspring will also influence the adjustment of the watch.
