A NEW EMOTION
Creating a new emotion while respecting a rigorous set of specifications established over half a century ago is a perilous exercise. Yet, this is the ambition of the Ref. 5303: to convey the spirit and history of oceanic conquest through a professional instrument that is equally suited to celebrating great moments out of the water.
PRESERVING HARMONY
Integrating a date display into an existing design presents a challenge: maintaining harmony despite the natural imbalance of an indication that has no axial symmetry.
The dial of the Ref. 5330 therefore features a re-centered minute track, with the date window positioned as a reflection of the index at 9 o’clock. The aperture preserves the 14’ and 16’ markers, ensuring uncompromised legibility.
FIGHTING MAGNETISM
Preventing magnetic fields from affecting the accuracy of a mechanical watch can be done in two broad ways: making a silicon hairspring or building a soft iron cage around the movement.
We chose the traditional method by building a cage made up of three parts to redirect the magnetic fields.
This construction now improves the magnetic resistance of the 5303 reference by more than 10 times the Swiss standard, going from 4800 A/m to more than 50000 A/m.
