Founder of Clochard9.2, Harris Vignozzi has been honing his expert eye since 2008 in Tokyo, transforming his passion for secondhand clothing into a true quest for authenticity, rarity, and quality.
A specialist in vintage clothing, he offers a meticulous selection of military, workwear, and tailoring pieces, now available in his boutiques in Prague and Florence.
His approach, rooted in years of global sourcing, makes his brand an essential reference for those seeking garments that carry history and a level of quality that is increasingly rare to find.
Your work is based on a “Modern vision of an old style”. Can you explain what this means to you and how this philosophy is reflected in your vintage stores in Florence and Prague?
It means wearing clothes steeped in history, but in a modern way. I love mixing vintage pieces with high-quality new items.
As for the stores, when you walk in, your first impression might not even be "vintage". The space is clean, organized, and neat. The clothes are washed, ironed, and in impeccable condition. Everything is presented with the same care and attention you would expect from a contemporary boutique.
This is precisely why my slogan is: a modern vision of vintage style.
How do you choose the pieces you sell? What criteria guide your selection, and what stories are you trying to tell through these items?
I only offer pieces in the store that I personally love. My selection is very instinctive: I choose for myself first.
I am particularly fascinated by the post-war period, specifically the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s. I'm drawn to denim, college style, rugged wear, and the military universe. These eras carry a strong identity and authenticity that still seem incredibly relevant today.
However, what matters most to me is the quality and the state of preservation, even before historical relevance. A piece must be well-preserved and well-crafted. If it doesn't meet this standard, it doesn't make it into the store.
In your line of work, you meet collectors, designers, and enthusiasts. Can you share some memorable encounters and what they have taught you about the vintage universe?
In most cases, collectors, designers, and professionals are true vintage enthusiasts themselves. If you create clothes or collect items, you need to understand where they come from, their origins, their context, their history.
These exchanges are always pleasant, interesting, and enriching.
Watches and beautifully crafted objects are witnesses of time. What role do they play in your daily life, and how does vintage influence your perception of time and elegance?
Today, wearing a mechanical watch is no longer a question of functionality; there are much simpler ways to check the time.
Choosing a mechanical watch is a statement of self. It reflects character, patience, and intention. It carries a sense of heritage and preserves a certain humanity in a fast-paced world.
