The Bulletin #11

Sharing a bit more of what we love, paying tribute to those who give voice to nuance and subtlety...

THE RECORD

THE BRIDGE / Sonny Rollins (1962)

A saxophone, a bridge, and a new beginning. After a self-imposed exile from the jazz scene, Sonny Rollins returned with The Bridge, an album of stunning clarity and bold improvisation.

Recorded after months of solitary practice on the Williamsburg Bridge, this masterpiece bridges past and future, structure and freedom. Certainly the most introspective recording of the "Saxophone Colossus".

THE BOOK

DOC HOLLIDAY / Paul West (1998)

More than just a Western legend, Doc Holliday was a man of contradictions: a feared gunslinger, a cultured Southerner, and a restless wanderer. In this literary portrait, Paul West paints an evocative and poetic picture of the infamous gambler and gunfighter, exploring the myth and the man behind it.

A gripping journey into the dust and danger of the Old West, where elegance meets raw survival.

THE EXHIBITION

CHIHARU SHIOTA / Grand Palais Immersif (until March 19, 2025)

Chiharu Shiota’s threads weave spaces where memory, identity, and absence intertwine. In this immersive exhibition at the Grand Palais, the Japanese artist invites us into a world where intricate red thread structures capture fragments of memories and emotions.

Blending sculpture and installation, her work explores the invisible connections between people and places. A visually striking and poetic experience where the ephemeral becomes tangible.

THE FILM

3-IRON / Kim Ki-Duk (2004)

Silence speaks louder than words in Kim Ki-Duk’s hypnotic 3-Iron. A man who never speaks, a woman trapped in silence, and a series of abandoned homes become the backdrop for an ethereal love story. A film where presence and absence collide, where stillness is poetry.

Minimalist, mysterious, and deeply moving, 3-Iron is a cinematic meditation on freedom and the invisible ties that bind us.
